NHAI Sets Four Guinness World Records on Andhra Pradesh Economic Corridor

The feats relied on large-scale machinery under third-party quality monitoring along the BengaluruKadapaVijayawada corridor.

Overview

  • Two new benchmarks announced on January 11 cover continuous laying of 57,500 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete and uninterrupted paving of 156 lane-km, a 3-lane-wide 52 km section.
  • The latest stretch surpassed the previous world mark of 84.4 lane-km for continuous paving, according to official statements.
  • Earlier records certified on January 6 near Puttaparthi logged 28.89 lane-km of continuous paving within 24 hours and 10,655 metric tonnes laid in the same period.
  • NHAI credited the results to a deployment that included 70 tippers, five hot mix plants, one paver and 17 rollers, executed with Rajpath Infracon under oversight from IIT Bombay and equipment manufacturers.
  • The 343 km access-controlled, six-lane corridor is projected to cut the BengaluruVijayawada route by about 100 km and nearly four hours, with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urging completion by the February 2027 target.
