NHAI Invites Bids for DPR on 20-Km AIIMS–Mahipalpur Elevated Corridor

The revised tender sets an October 15 bid deadline with a nine-month study timeline subject to feasibility.

Overview

  • MoRTH and NHAI have reissued a tender to conduct a feasibility study and prepare the DPR for a signal-free elevated link from AIIMS/INA to the Gurugram-Faridabad Road via Mahipalpur.
  • The proposed 20-km corridor is framed to ease chronic congestion on NH-48, Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road and the ring roads by offering a direct alternative route through South Delhi.
  • Preliminary documents outline an alignment crossing Ring Road to Nelson Mandela Marg, running past Vasant Vihar and Vasant Kunj to Arjangarh, with planned off-ramps on NH-148A, NH-148AE for IGI-bound traffic, and Mahipalpur Road.
  • The indicative cost is about ₹5,000 crore, with final estimates to be determined after the DPR; a similar tender floated in May–June did not advance and has now been revised.
  • The contract includes the option to terminate if the project is found unviable, and CRRI experts urge detailed diversion and traffic-management plans to limit disruption during any construction.
