Overview
- On Thursday, May 28, the National Highways Authority of India finalised a tentative list of 17 operational highway stretches totaling 1,692.5 km for monetisation in FY2026–27.
- The assets are spread across nine states: Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra.
- Monetisation will use Toll‑Operate‑Transfer and Infrastructure Investment Trust routes, where private investors buy long‑term operating and tolling rights for fixed periods while land ownership stays with the state.
- The FY27 programme excludes slots set aside for the new public InvIT, Raajmarg Infra Investment Trust, which will be monetised separately to give more options to different investor groups.
- The plan builds on a multi‑year track record that raised about ₹29,000 crore in FY26 and roughly ₹1.42 lakh crore across 6,100+ km since the programme began, and NHAI says proceeds will be recycled into new highway building and network modernisation.
