NHAI Eases FASTag KYV With Front Photo Only, VAHAN Auto-Fetch and No Immediate Disconnections

The update uses VAHAN auto-fetch to cut paperwork, preventing abrupt tag deactivation.

Overview

  • IHMCL issued revised KYV guidelines on October 31, 2025 to streamline verification in line with the one-vehicle-one-tag mandate.
  • Users of cars, jeeps and vans now need to upload only a front image showing the number plate and the FASTag on the windshield.
  • RC details will be pulled automatically from the VAHAN database when the vehicle number, chassis number or registered mobile number is entered, with a selection option if multiple vehicles share a mobile.
  • FASTags issued before KYV remain active unless misuse or loose-tag complaints are received, giving users time to complete verification instead of facing immediate cutoffs.
  • Issuer banks must send SMS reminders and assist customers with uploads, with KYV-related complaints handled via the 1033 highway helpline as the system readies for multi-lane free flow tolling.
