NGA Outlines Rapid AI Plan at GEOINT

The push signals a shift to AI tools that reach the field faster through risk-tolerant buying.

Overview

  • Director Lt. Gen. Michele Bredenkamp said a new AI framework will be released soon as a blueprint to make NGA an “AI first” organization with humans kept in the loop.
  • She charged the Rapid Capabilities Office to take more acquisition risk and to use Other Transaction Authority deals, which let the agency award faster and move from prototype to production without a new competition.
  • RCO chief Chris Parrett said the office will run short pilots and prototypes and push AI-enabled geospatial tools to units at the edge to help warfighters in the field.
  • NGA scheduled a July industry day on advanced analytics with both classified and unclassified sessions to draw a wider mix of vendors.
  • To turn pilots into real programs, the office will seek early buy-in and transition agreements with NGA program managers so successful tools enter funded lines.
