Overview
- NFR confirmed a proposed Wagon POH workshop at Basbari, with Phase I pegged at Rs 256.35 crore and initial capacity of 75 wagons per month, scaling to 250 in later phases.
- General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inspected the Basbari site with senior officials and Bodoland Territorial Council representatives.
- The 69 km Kokrajhar–Gelephu rail corridor has Government of India Special Railway Project status with an estimated cost of Rs 4,033 crore to connect Assam to Bhutan.
- Station upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme have begun at Kokrajhar, Gossaigaon Hat, Fakiragram, Udalguri, Tangla and Majbat with plans for better amenities and redesigned facilities.
- Service access is expanding with Vande Bharat and Rajdhani halts at Kokrajhar plus new stoppages at Gossaigaon Hat, Fakiragram, Basugaon, Bijni, Tangla, Udalguri and Majbat as electrification and doubling progress.
