NFP and Macronist Candidate Advance to Second Round in Isère Legislative Election
Low turnout marks the first round as Lyes Louffok and Camille Galliard-Minier emerge as frontrunners to replace LFI’s Hugo Prevost.
- Lyes Louffok of the Nouveau Front Populaire (NFP) led the first round with 28.3% of the vote, followed closely by Camille Galliard-Minier of the Ensemble! coalition with 26.6%.
- The election was triggered by the resignation of former LFI deputy Hugo Prevost, who stepped down in October following accusations of sexual and sexist violence.
- Turnout was significantly lower than in the general elections last June, with only 35.86% of eligible voters participating compared to 75.86% previously.
- Louffok, a 30-year-old child rights activist, performed strongly in left-leaning Grenoble, while Galliard-Minier, a former lawyer and local candidate, found support in surrounding more affluent communes.
- The second round, scheduled for January 19, will see a direct contest between Louffok, advocating for progressive reforms, and Galliard-Minier, positioning herself as a candidate of stability and dialogue.
