NFL, USAA Name McCaffrey, Jones and Ferguson Finalists for 15th Salute to Service Award

A panel of military and NFL representatives will choose the recipient who will be honored at NFL Honors on Feb. 5 in San Francisco.

Overview

  • Christian McCaffrey was recognized for his foundation’s 23 and Troops initiative, which focuses on athlete-level care for post‑traumatic stress and has invested nearly $700,000, including grants to REBOOT Recovery and Resilience Code.
  • Aaron Jones earned finalist status through the A&A All the Way Foundation and deep family military ties, hosting military families at home games and joining an NFLUSO tour to visit service members in Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Jake Ferguson partnered with USAA to visit military bases and supports the National Medal of Honor Museum, helping host a 2024 Character Playbook LIVE event that reached 900 students in person and thousands virtually.
  • Fans helped determine the three finalists via online voting before an NFL and USAA review, with the final selection to be made by a judges panel that includes George Kittle and Major General (Ret.) Bob Whittle.
  • USAA will donate $25,000 in the winner’s name to official military aid societies, and the NFL Foundation will match with $25,000 to the recipient’s chosen military non‑profit, with the winner to be announced Feb. 5.
