• Five recipients will wear the patch: Josh Allen (MVP), Saquon Barkley (Offensive Player of the Year), Pat Surtain II (Defensive Player of the Year), Jayden Daniels (Offensive Rookie of the Year) and Jared Verse (Defensive Rookie of the Year).
• The Gold Shield replaces the standard collar logo on game jerseys for the entire 2025 regular season and playoffs.
• Saquon Barkley is slated to debut the patch in Thursday’s Eagles–Cowboys opener, with Josh Allen set to wear it Sunday night against the Ravens.
• The NFL says it anticipates continuing the recognition program in future seasons.
• This marks the first color change of the NFL shield for award recognition, following MLB’s similar gold-logo initiative tied to Topps game-worn patch cards.
