NFL Umpire Carl Paganelli Injured During Buccaneers-Panthers Game

The veteran official was carted off the field after a collision with a player in the first quarter, leaving the officiating crew shorthanded.

Carl Paganelli, an NFL umpire since 1999, was injured during the first quarter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers game.
The incident occurred when Paganelli collided with Buccaneers linebacker Vi Jones while attempting to catch a ball being thrown in from the sideline.
Paganelli appeared to sustain a lower leg injury and was carted off the field for medical evaluation.
The officiating crew continued the game with six members, with back judge Grantis Bell taking on some of Paganelli's responsibilities.
Paganelli, 64, is a highly experienced official, having worked four Super Bowls, including two alongside his brother Perry Paganelli.
