NFL Suspends Vikings Receiver Jordan Addison for Opening Three Games

His unpaid three-game ban for a first-time substance-abuse offense under NFL policy will conclude with his scheduled Week 4 return in Dublin.

Overview

  • The NFL announced on August 5 that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison will forfeit pay during the first three regular-season games under its substance-abuse policy.
  • Addison was convicted in July 2024 of driving under the influence after being found asleep at the wheel on a Los Angeles highway and received 12 months’ probation, a $390 fine and two online course requirements.
  • He remains eligible for all preseason matchups but will miss Week 1 at the Chicago Bears, Week 2 versus the Atlanta Falcons and Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Since being drafted 23rd overall in 2023, Addison has recorded 133 receptions for 1,786 yards and 19 touchdowns in 29 games over two seasons.
  • Upon his Week 4 return against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, he is expected to serve as a primary target for new quarterback J. J. McCarthy as defenses concentrate on Justin Jefferson.
