NFL, players union reach deal to preserve disability benefits

• The NFL and players union agreed to let former players keep disability benefits.
• Players deemed disabled by the Social Security Administration can retain NFL disability payments.
• Players will be re-evaluated in 2026 to determine continued eligibility.
• Going forward, NFL benefits will be reduced by government disability amounts.
• The deal was negotiated by new NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell.
