NFL, NFLPA Reviewing Giants’ Handling of Jaxson Dart Concussion Check

The joint review will examine whether nonmedical personnel improperly entered the blue tent during Jaxson Dart’s evaluation.

Overview

  • The league announced Friday that it opened a joint review with the NFLPA into how the Giants applied the concussion protocol for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart against the Eagles.
  • Head coach Brian Daboll approached the medical tent and was seen in a heated exchange with team physician Dr. Scott Rodeo as Dart was being evaluated.
  • Running back Cam Skattebo also briefly went into the tent, later saying he was trying to help calm Dart during the assessment.
  • Dart missed two plays, was cleared to return, and finished 17-of-25 for 195 yards with 58 rushing yards in the 34-17 win; there has been no report of a diagnosed concussion.
  • Daboll apologized for his actions and owner John Mara said the team will cooperate fully with the review, as reports indicate potential discipline is being considered but none has been announced.
