NFL Names Shawn Smith Referee for Super Bowl LX, Unveils Full Officiating Crew

The selection follows season-long grading that rewards performance, mechanics and professionalism.

Overview

  • The NFL’s Super Bowl LX crew features referee Shawn Smith with Roy Ellison (umpire), Dana McKenzie (down judge), Julian Mapp (line judge), Jason Ledet (field judge), Eugene Hall (side judge), Greg Steed (back judge) and Andrew Lambert (replay).
  • Ellison and Hall have worked three Super Bowls, Steed has two and McKenzie has one, while Mapp, Ledet and Lambert are making their Super Bowl debuts.
  • This will be Smith’s first on-field Super Bowl assignment after rising from NFL umpire in 2015 to referee in 2018, and his crews have averaged about 12 penalties per game from 2023–25, lower than many peers.
  • Super Bowl LX is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
  • The announcement was issued before the conference championship games, with routine administrative finalization expected after the NFC Championship, and reports differ on whether this marks Smith’s 10th or 11th playoff game.
