NFL Fines Amon-Ra St. Brown After Review of Lions–Commanders Scuffle

Hearing officer Ramon Foster already upheld Daron Payne’s Week 11 suspension from the same incident.

Overview

  • The league fined Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown $12,172 for unnecessary roughness for striking Daron Payne’s facemask, but did not suspend him.
  • Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne was ejected for punching St. Brown in Week 10 and will serve a one-game suspension after his appeal was denied.
  • Payne’s absence rules him out of Washington’s Week 11 game in Madrid against the Dolphins, whereas St. Brown remains available for Detroit’s primetime trip to Philadelphia.
  • Video Payne posted to social media showed St. Brown swiping at his helmet earlier in the sequence, an action officials did not flag during the game.
  • The NFL also fined Washington’s Javon Kinlaw $28,555 for unsportsmanlike conduct involving contact with an official and linebacker Ale Kaho $46,371 for illegal use of the helmet.
