Overview
- Last June the site’s founder Robin “Dark0ne” Scott stepped back and executives from Danish firm Chosen led by CEO Victor Folmann took charge of Nexus Mods.
- Folmann published his first public letter Tuesday outlining a long‑term goal to become an “operating system for user‑generated content” and to make mods browse‑click‑play simple for players.
- Over the past year the team has grown from about 42 people to 75 (87 including hires waiting to start) while focusing on core work rather than big product launches.
- The company says it has finished backend and safety work such as a redesigned mod upload form, improved CSAM and virus detection, and community modathons as groundwork for the redesign.
- The proposed technical shift is to treat mods as interdependent systems that handle dependencies, conflicts, load order, versioning and environments so installations work reliably; the plan has no firm timetable and continues to face cautious community skepticism as leadership asks to be judged on delivered results over the next year.
