Overview

• State, city and county teams targeted the encampment along the 110 Freeway near 87th–88th streets, with outreach starting Sept. 19, services delivered Sept. 23 and Caltrans clearing the site Sept. 24.
• About 40 people lived at the site; officials reported universal shelter acceptance even as on-the-ground counts varied during the cleanup.
• Caltrans removed roughly 340 cubic yards of debris, collected and stored belongings, and is adding fencing, landscaping and boulders to discourage repopulation.
• A nearby resource fair connected people to healthcare and helped issue DMV identification needed for housing assistance.
• Officials said work is continuing along the corridor this week, with additional SAFE Task Force operations planned in California’s ten largest cities.
