Overview

  • Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a no-cost partnership with Google, Adobe, IBM and Microsoft to embed generative AI tools and training in grades 9–12, community colleges and the California State University system.
  • The program follows recommendations from the California Report on Frontier AI Policy, which highlighted that 32 of the world’s top 50 AI companies are based in California.
  • Adobe will provide its generative AI tools, including Adobe Express and Acrobat, while Google will offer AI training programs and free courses for students, teachers and state agencies.
  • IBM will integrate AI modules into community college curricula via its SkillsBuild initiative and create regional labs offering certificates and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Microsoft will deliver a bootcamp series on AI Foundations, cybersecurity and Microsoft Copilot to upskill faculty and students across the state.
