Newly Leaked 2011 Email Shows Prince Andrew Telling Epstein “We Are in This Together”

The message undercuts his 2019 claim to have ended contact, increasing pressure on the palace.

Overview

  • The Mail on Sunday and The Sun published what they say is a Feb. 28, 2011 email in which Prince Andrew tells Jeffrey Epstein, “we are in this together,” sent the day after the photo of Andrew with Virginia Giuffre was first published.
  • The email includes lines such as “keep in close touch” and “we’ll play some more soon!!!!” and was reportedly sent from an account bearing the duke’s official signature.
  • The Mail on Sunday says it verified the sender’s address, and portions of the same email had appeared earlier this year in court documents related to the Financial Conduct Authority’s case involving former Barclays chief Jes Staley.
  • The correspondence appears to contradict Andrew’s 2019 BBC Newsnight assertion that he had no contact with Epstein after December 2010, with royal insiders described as exasperated and with limited remaining options to sanction him.
  • More revelations are possible as US congressional records undergo review for public release and as Giuffre’s posthumous memoir is scheduled for publication later in October.
