• The Christmas market runs November 15 to December 23 and extends from Monument and Grainger Street into Nelson Street to create a better link to Grainger Market.
• The Christmas Village returns to Old Eldon Square with new features including Mrs Claus’ Bakery, Marshmallow Land, and Festive Flix, alongside the Rockin’ Reindeer stage, Santa Stories, Moosenwirt and North Pole Terrace igloos.
• Organisers have opened ticket sales for Christmas Village experiences and dining igloos, and they advise booking early to secure preferred times.
• Newcastle City Council says the market contributed nearly £91 million to the city’s economy last year and positions this year’s expanded programme to support local traders.
• The council is working with NE1 to finalise New Year’s Eve plans, and a separate £5 Firework Frenzy event at Gateshead International Stadium is set for November 1 with fairground rides, live acts and a DJ.
