Overview

• Residents of Newborough, led by two grandmothers, will conduct a one-hour 'moving blockade' slow walk along Church Street on Sunday, May 4, starting at 9am.
• The protest targets chronic gridlocks on the sole access road to Traeth Llanddwyn beach and Newborough Forest, worsened by surging visitor numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Natural Resources Wales has pledged additional traffic management, and the procession will be accompanied by a small police escort for safety.
• On sunny days, traffic queues can stretch up to 1.8 miles from the village center, with further tailbacks along the A4080, trapping locals and visitors alike.
• Protest leaders have vowed to continue holding slow walks until authorities implement effective and lasting solutions to alleviate the congestion.
