• The Alameda County District Attorney charged 18-year-old Newark resident Luis McLaughlin Jr. with one count of attempted murder on Monday.

• Newark police say officers found an adult man with multiple stab wounds near the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue late Aug. 19.
• The victim was taken to a hospital and was last reported in stable condition after initially being described as having life-threatening injuries.
• Police say McLaughlin was arrested Sunday by an NPD SWAT team serving a search warrant on the 5000 block of Civic Terrace Avenue.
