Overview
- On June 10, Richard Vaka pleaded not guilty to first-degree residential burglary, grand theft and taking a vehicle without consent in the May 2 break-in at the South San Francisco home of Brian Montana’s widow.
- The court denied the San Mateo County District Attorney’s request for $50,000 bail and released Vaka on supervised own recognizance.
- Prosecutors estimate roughly $15,000 in property was taken and say a stolen credit card was used at Lucky Chances Casino in Colma and a local gas station.
- Surveillance footage identified 43-year-old Norman DeOcampo Desumala of Fremont as a second suspect, and he remains wanted under a $75,000 arrest warrant.
- Both men were found in the stolen vehicle by Alameda County Sheriff’s Office deputies on May 6, with some of the widow’s belongings still inside.
