New Zealand Tourist Killed in Robbery at California Mall

Patricia McKay, 68, was struck by a getaway car after an armed robbery attempt in Newport Beach, leading to a high-speed police chase and the arrest of three suspects.

The incident occurred outside the Barnes & Noble at Fashion Island Mall around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Two suspects attempted to rob Patricia McKay and her husband, who were tourists from New Zealand.
During the struggle, McKay was dragged into the parking lot and struck by a white Toyota Camry driven by a third suspect.
The suspects fired shots but did not hit anyone, then fled the scene, leading police on a chase reaching speeds of 110 mph.
All three suspects were apprehended and booked on charges including homicide, robbery with a firearm, and conspiracy.
