Overview

  • The state agreed July 18 to pay Brittany Commisso $450,000 to end her lawsuit accusing former Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment.
  • Under the settlement, the payment is split evenly between Commisso and her attorneys, the suit must be dismissed and no liability is admitted.
  • The agreement bars Commisso from working in the governor’s office through 2030 under terms set by Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration.
  • Cuomo’s lawyers denounced the deal as a “capitulation to avoid the truth,” and the former governor, who is running for New York City mayor, denies all allegations.
  • Commisso’s suit, filed under the Adult Survivors Act in November 2023, followed independent reviews by the state attorney general and the DOJ that found Cuomo had harassed multiple aides.
