The Rangers, currently tied for last in the Metropolitan Division, are looking to rebuild their depth after trading Kaapo Kakko to Seattle last month.
Kaliyev, who recently recovered from a fractured clavicle, is on a one-year, $825,000 contract and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
