Overview
- Personal finance instruction becomes required in grades 5–12 in 2026–27 and in grades K–4 in 2027–28.
- Climate education becomes required in grades 5–12 in 2027–28 and in grades K–4 in 2028–29.
- Finance topics will include budgeting and money management, saving and investing, credit and debit management, and earning income.
- Climate coursework will address the causes and impacts of climate change as outlined by the Board of Regents.
- Districts may embed content in existing subjects, create standalone courses, or incorporate finance through Career and Technical Education as part of phase two of the NY Inspires Plan.
