New York man shoots infant daughter with crossbow, kills her; charged with murder

Patrick Proefriedt, a New York man with a history of domestic violence, violated an order of protection and shot his 3-week-old daughter with a crossbow, killing her.
Proefriedt fired a crossbow bolt at his wife while she was holding their baby daughter, hitting the infant.
The baby died at the scene, and the mother was wounded and taken to the hospital.
Proefriedt removed the crossbow bolt, tried to stop his wife from calling 911, and then fled in his truck before being located in nearby woods.
Proefriedt was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, and violation of an order of protection.
