New York Man Charged With Murder After Delivering Father’s Body to Police

Authorities allege Richard Fluegel Jr. fatally shot his father before attempting to turn in the body at a sheriff’s office in Livingston County.

Richard Fluegel Jr., 30, was charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and criminal use of a firearm after bringing his father’s bullet-riddled body to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
Fluegel Jr. called 911 late Monday to report that he had a body to turn in at the sheriff’s office in Geneseo, New York, where deputies found the body of his father, Richard Fluegel Sr., in his car.
The elder Fluegel, 60, had been reported missing on Sunday after failing to return home and missing a scheduled flight the following morning.
Investigators believe the homicide occurred at a location in the Town of Ossian, identified through forensic evidence and searches conducted by law enforcement teams.
Fluegel Jr. pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Tuesday and is being held without bail; his next court appearance is scheduled for December 16 as the investigation continues.
