New York Islanders to Open Two Public Outdoor Rinks at Belmont Park

The rinks, part of The Park at UBS Arena, will host hockey tournaments and skating programs, opening to the public on Dec. 27.

The New York Islanders are opening two public outdoor ice skating rinks on the grounds of Belmont Park near UBS Arena on Dec. 27.
The facility, called The Park at UBS Arena, will be in the paddock area of the historic racetrack, which is undergoing a two-year renovation.
One rink, sponsored by Northwell Health, will host a series of four-by-four pond hockey tournaments following USA Hockey guidelines, catering to youth and adult divisions at various competitive levels.
The second rink, called Isles Pond, will boast a synthetic technology created by Global Synthetic Ice, ensuring season-long accessibility. The Islanders plan to host Learn to Skate, Learn to Play and Try Hockey for free programs on that surface.
The facility will be widely available for hockey fans and skating members of the public as 90-minute skate sessions will be offered on both ponds.
