New York Climber Dies After 400-Foot Fall on Colorado's Wilson Peak

The 53-year-old man from Rochester was hiking alone when he fell and suffered a fatal head injury.

He fell between 300 to 400 feet, sustaining a severe head injury that led to his death.
The incident occurred in the San Juan mountain range, approximately 15 miles southwest of Telluride.
Another hiker witnessed the fall and alerted emergency services, but the man had already succumbed to his injuries by the time rescuers arrived.
The rescue mission, involving Colorado Highland Helicopters, took about four hours to recover the body and transfer it to the local coroner.
