New York City to Close Its Final Migrant Hotel

  • The city’s $5.13 million-a-month contract for the Row NYC expires in April and will not be renewed, ending its use as a shelter.
  • Since its conversion in October 2022, the 1,331-room former hotel has collected over $170 million under the city contract.
  • Officials have closed 64 emergency migrant sites to date, including all tent facilities and the Roosevelt Hotel this summer.
  • The network peaked at 220 hotels and other sites in early 2023 and has since contracted to just four city-contracted shelters.
