New York City Postpones Enforcement of Controversial Airbnb Law Amid Legal Challenge

Airbnb filed a lawsuit against New York City over a new law regulating short-term rentals, arguing it amounted to a "de facto ban."
The law requires hosts to be permanent residents and register with the city, but the enforcement agency has faced delays in processing registrations.
Under threat of legal action, New York City agreed to postpone enforcement of the law until September.
The postponement comes as more than 5,500 Airbnb listings were booked to host over 10,000 guests in New York City over the first week of July alone.
