New York City Approves $780M Soccer Stadium for NYCFC

The stadium, expected to open in 2027, will be part of a major redevelopment project in Willets Point, Queens.

The New York City Council approved a $780 million plan for a new 25,000-seat stadium for NYCFC, to be located next to Citi Field.
The project includes a broader redevelopment of the Willets Point area, featuring housing, a new public school, retail stores, and a hotel.
The stadium will be NYCFC's first dedicated venue, as the team currently plays at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium.
Despite being privately financed, the project could cost taxpayers approximately $516 million over the term of NYCFC’s 49-year lease.
The redevelopment aims to transform a historically industrial area, providing significant economic benefits and job opportunities.
