New UK Indie Secures ‘Blake’s 7’ Rights, Taps Peter Hoar to Direct Reboot

The early-stage project will be shopped to buyers soon using an international co‑production approach.

Overview

  • Multitude Productions has been launched by Peter Hoar with Matthew Bouch and Jason Haigh‑Ellery, with Lizzie Worsdell aboard as executive producer.
  • The company struck a rights deal with creator Terry Nation’s estate to develop a new version of the 1978–81 BBC cult sci‑fi series.
  • Hoar is attached to direct the reboot, which is moving into development and will be presented to potential buyers in the near term.
  • Bouch says the team would like a UK home at the BBC and plans to seek co‑financing from U.S. streamers and European partners such as RTL.
  • No writers or cast are set, with Multitude advocating a collaborative multi‑writer model, and the outfit is also developing Dice Man, Skeleton Creek, The Dark Maidens, a video‑game adaptation, an ITV sci‑fi project, and the crime series Scammers.
