New Terminal Opens at Donyi Polo Airport as IndiGo Sets Daily Delhi Flights From Sept. 17

The upgrade signals a push under the UDAN program to deepen Northeast connectivity and improve the passenger experience.

Overview

  • Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the permanent terminal at Hollongi on September 4.
  • The facility lifts throughput to 800 concurrent passengers, translating to roughly 15 lakh annually, up from 150 at the temporary terminal.
  • IndiGo will move the DelhiItanagar service to daily operations from September 17, replacing the current four-days-a-week schedule.
  • New offerings include the UDAN Yatri Cafe, an airport library, the AVASAR platform for local artisans and self-help groups, and a kids’ store, with free Wi‑Fi, more charging points, and workspaces planned.
  • The airport currently connects Itanagar with Guwahati, Kolkata, and Tezu, and officials say expanded regional links and heliports across Arunachal are under discussion.
