New Survey Reveals Widespread Menstruation Taboo and Health Information Gaps

  • 91% of those surveyed identified a shortage of information on the health impacts of menstrual cycles and hormones.
  • Sixty percent of women actively track and document their menstrual cycles, with this figure rising to two-thirds among those aged 14 to 29.
  • Sports bodies, led by the German Football Association’s 2023 'Let's talk Periods' campaign, are promoting open dialogue about menstruation.
  • The Forsa survey, commissioned by KKH Kaufmännische Krankenkasse, canvassed 1,002 women aged 14–50 in May 2025 to coincide with World Menstruation Day.
