New Russian Polls Show Strong Support for Putin as United Russia Leads in Voting Intentions

Separate nationwide surveys conducted in early October using face-to-face and telephone methods report high trust in the president alongside varied readings for the cabinet and party preferences.

Overview

  • FOM’s Oct. 3–5 face-to-face poll finds 80% positively evaluate Vladimir Putin’s work and 79% say they trust him, with 7% rating his performance poorly and 11% expressing distrust.
  • VCIOM reports 79.2% trust in Putin and 75.3% approval of his performance in a Sept. 29–Oct. 5 telephone survey, with 16.3% expressing distrust and 14.9% disapproval.
  • Assessments of the federal government differ: FOM records 54% saying it works rather well, while VCIOM shows 48.7% approval.
  • Views of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin are positive in both snapshots, with 56% rating his work favorably in FOM and 60.5% expressing trust in him in VCIOM.
  • Hypothetical State Duma voting shares show United Russia leading at 43% in FOM and 33.8% in VCIOM, with LDPR and KPRF trailing in both; FOM cites a margin of error up to 3.6% and VCIOM up to 1%.
