New Roadworks Begin Monday Across Essen and Chemnitz

  • Essen’s Frohnhauser Straße narrows to one inbound lane at Onckenstraße/Rüdesheimer Straße with no left turn from Monday until December 5 for Stadtwerke utility work.
  • Further Essen works from Monday include cap repairs on the Sachsenring in Freisenbruch with contraflow until mid-December and canal construction on Krayer Straße in Kray reducing traffic to one lane in each direction until December 19.
  • Ruhrallee toward the city center remains limited to a single lane for canal construction, with delays expected through the third quarter of 2026.
  • The multi-year rebuild of Steeler Straße continues, including a heavy-vehicle ban over 3.5 tonnes at the Dinnendahlstraße entrance and signed detours for access to Steele.
  • In Chemnitz from Monday, the Neefestraße ramp closes fully with detours to December 5, Leipziger Straße faces partial restrictions for broadband work, and Stelzendorfer Straße closes in sections until December 23.
