New Nissan Leaf Qualifies for £3,750 Electric Car Grant

Ministers frame the move as part of a wider push coupling buyer discounts with new charging investment.

Overview

  • The Department for Transport confirmed the next-generation Leaf receives the full Band One discount, pricing it at £32,249.
  • Production will take place at Nissan’s Sunderland plant from December, supporting thousands of North East manufacturing jobs.
  • Nissan quotes up to 386 miles of range for the refreshed model, which is due to reach customers next year.
  • Since the grant’s relaunch in July, more than 35,000 buyers have used it, with EVs accounting for about one in four new UK car sales in October.
  • The grant update sits alongside £381 million for the LEVI charging programme and an extra £25 million to ease home-charger installations, with the DfT also indicating a yet-to-be-named Vauxhall model will qualify for the full discount.
