Overview
- SurveyMonkey and NBC News polled 30,196 adults, including 2,970 ages 18–29, from Aug. 13 to Sept. 1, with margins of error of ±1.9 points overall and ±2.2 points for Gen Z.
- Gen Z overall disapproved of President Trump’s job performance 64% to 36%, with approval at 47% among Gen Z men versus 26% among Gen Z women.
- Gen Z men were far more likely than Gen Z women to approve of Trump’s handling of inflation and trade by roughly 20 points, and on immigration/deportation by 45% to 21%.
- Personal definitions of success diverged sharply: Trump‑voting Gen Z men ranked having children highest and marriage near the top, while Harris‑voting Gen Z women placed children 12th and marriage near the bottom, prioritizing career, money and emotional stability.
- Young women reported much higher chronic anxiety about the future than young men, and coverage of the findings split along partisan lines as conservative outlets cast the results as a rejection of traditional values.
