Overview
- Opening weekend will be free on March 21–22 with ticket registration to open next month, funded by trustee Charlotte Feng Ford.
- The museum returns with a building-wide exhibition, New Humans: Memories of the Future, featuring works by more than 200 participants exploring changing ideas of humanity.
- The expansion adds 9,600 square feet of galleries, 3,850 for New Inc, 3,210 for studios and education, a 74-seat Forum, an enlarged Sky Room, three new elevators, an atrium stair, and a reworked entrance plaza.
- Long-term site-specific commissions will debut by Tschabalala Self on the façade, Klára Hosnedlová on the Atrium Stair, and Sarah Lucas in the public plaza.
- Admission will rise to $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and visitors with disabilities, and $19 for students, with free entry for visitors 18 and under and SNAP/EBT recipients, as director Lisa Phillips plans to retire in April.
