New Monitoring Service to Shield Tennis Players from Online Abuse
Joint initiative by ITF, U.S. Tennis Association, All England Club and WTA, 'Threat Matrix' to launch on January 1.
- The International Tennis Federation, U.S. Tennis Association, the All England Club and the women's WTA tour have jointly announced a new monitoring service, 'Threat Matrix', to protect tennis players from online abuse and threats.
- The service, developed by AI company Signify Group, will operate in 35 languages and is set to launch on January 1.
- Threat Matrix will monitor players' public-facing social media for abusive and threatening content on platforms including X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.
- The service aims to support the identification of abusers, against whom all available measures will be taken.
- The men's ATP tour and organizers of the Australian Open and French Open were not part of the announcement.
