New Marzahn-Hellersdorf Bürgeramt Opens to Reduce Berlin Appointment Backlog

Supported by 100 new positions alongside a 20-member floating pool, the Riesaer Straße office has helped lift Berlin’s short-term appointment availability to 81.8%.

  • The Bürgeramt at Riesaer Straße 94 opened on July 17 with 15 workstations to serve routine citizen requests.
  • It marks the fourth office in Marzahn-Hellersdorf and the 46th location in Berlin’s Bürgeramt network.
  • Daily bookings have risen to an average of 7,107 slots per workday, up from 6,262 a year ago.
  • Of two further planned sites in Treptow-Köpenick and Pankow, only one is expected to open later this year after construction delays.
  • A Landesverwaltungsamt recruitment unit has been set up to accelerate hiring and maintain expanded service capacity.
