New Maigret Premieres Sunday on PBS Masterpiece as Banijay Seals Global Rollout

MASTERPIECE Maigret Episode Two: The Lazy Burglar – Part Two Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 9/8c on PBS Despite being demoted for losing his only lead in the bank robberies case, Maigret continues to pursue justice for Honoré Cuendet and his loved ones. By anticipating the bank robbers’ next move, Maigret wins himself the chance to confront and expose Honoré’s killers. Maigret appears to have won a double victory, but then he realizes that the heists were only a part of the robbers’ larger master plan. Overview

  • The series debuts in the U.S. on Sunday, October 5 at 9/8c on Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS, with streaming on PBS.org, the PBS app and the PBS MASTERPIECE Prime Video Channel.
  • Banijay Rights has pre-sold the show to ABC in Australia, Wowow in Japan, Sky Free in New Zealand, VRT in Belgium, HRT in Croatia and SIA Tet in Latvia.
  • Told across three two-part stories, the season follows Maigret and his team as they tackle cases involving a burglar, a billionaire and a student.
  • Wainwright’s Maigret is a modern, younger take who often forgoes smoking and shares a grounded home life with his wife Louise, played by Stefanie Martini.
  • Produced by Playground, the series is led by writer–executive producer Patrick Harbinson with executive producers Colin Callender and David Stern, and it was largely filmed in Budapest standing in for Paris.
