New Magazine Rankings Spotlight Five Baden‑Württemberg Attractions

Fresh lists from Reisereporter and Merian elevate castles, the Blautopf and two landmark gardens in the state.

Reisereporter’s new list of 17 “dreamlike places” features three Baden‑Württemberg sites: Burg Hohenzollern, Schloss Lichtenstein and the Blautopf.
Burg Hohenzollern is highlighted for its commanding hilltop setting near Hechingen and its role as the ancestral seat of the House of Hohenzollern.
Schloss Lichtenstein is noted for its dramatic cliffside perch and its 1842 construction inspired by Wilhelm Hauff’s 1826 novel.
The Blautopf stands out for its vivid turquoise karst spring and was ranked Germany’s second most beautiful nature wonder for 2025.
Merian names Schlossgarten Schwetzingen and the island of Mainau among Germany’s nine top gardens, citing Schwetzingen’s 18th‑century mosque by Nicolas de Pigage and Mainau’s Mediterranean terraces, baroque palace and Palm House; Schwetzingen’s English landscape section is temporarily closed for tree work.
