New Jersey Man Injures Eight in New Year's Day Driving Rampage in NYC

Among the injured is 'Black Panther' actress Carrie Bernans; police find large quantity of crack cocaine in the driver's vehicle.

Mohamed Alaouie, 44, of Fort Lee, New Jersey, was arrested after driving his Mercedes onto a sidewalk in Midtown, New York City, injuring at least eight people, including two police officers and actress Carrie Bernans.
The incident began when Alaouie was seen physically assaulting his unidentified 34-year-old girlfriend inside his moving vehicle. When police tried to intervene, Alaouie sped off, hitting several cars and pedestrians.
Alaouie also hit a halal cart, trapping a 39-year-old woman beneath it. She survived with minor injuries.
Actress Carrie Bernans, known for her role in 'Black Panther', suffered several broken bones, fractures, and chipped teeth during the incident.
Police found a large quantity of crack cocaine in Alaouie's vehicle. He has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, assault, reckless endangerment, drug possession, driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired.
