New Images Show Melodee Buzzard Before Disappearance as Timeline Narrows to Oct. 7–10

Detectives now focus on a three-day trip from California toward Nebraska after the mother returned alone on Oct. 10.

Overview

  • Sheriff's investigators released Oct. 7 surveillance from a Santa Barbara–area rental car business showing Melodee in a hooded sweatshirt and what they believe was a darker, straighter wig.
  • Authorities say the mother rented a white Chevrolet Malibu for a road trip to the Nebraska area with a return route that included Kansas, and the car was back at the Lompoc home on Oct. 10 without Melodee.
  • The disappearance window is now narrowed to Oct. 7–10, and detectives are working to determine where Melodee was during those three days.
  • Ashlee Buzzard remains uncooperative as local, state, and federal agencies including the FBI pursue leads, serve warrants, and report no findings at the Mars Avenue home or surrounding areas.
  • Officials urge the public to submit tips directly to detectives and note the community held a candlelight vigil in Vandenberg Village for Melodee's safety.
