Overview
- The BIÖG Drogenaffinitätsstudie 2025 reports past-year use among 12- to 17-year-olds slipped to 6.1% from 6.7% in 2023, with regular use edging down to 1.1%.
- Among 18- to 25-year-olds, past-year prevalence rose to 25.6% from 23.3% and regular use increased to 8.9% from 8.0%.
- Use climbed especially among young men, with 31.6% reporting past-year use (2023: 26.9%) and regular use rising to 12.4% from 10.6%.
- Over the past decade, reported past-year use increased sharply for young adults of both sexes, while it declined slightly among adolescents, according to BIÖG.
- The survey, conducted April through July 2025, follows Germany’s April 2024 partial legalization allowing limited adult cultivation, possession and consumption, and BIÖG’s acting head says adolescent use did not rise but consumption among young adults ticked up, particularly among men.
