New FASTag Rules Take Effect Today to Streamline Toll Payments

The updated regulations aim to reduce fraud and improve efficiency, introducing changes to blacklisting, penalties, and transaction processing.

FASTag users now have a 70-minute grace period to resolve blacklisting issues before reaching toll plazas.
If a FASTag remains blacklisted upon scanning at the toll, users must pay double the toll fee, though a penalty refund can be requested if recharged within 10 minutes of scanning.
Transactions processed more than 15 minutes after passing a toll reader may incur additional charges for users.
Banks can only raise chargebacks for incorrect deductions related to blacklisted or low-balance FASTags after a 15-day cooling period.
Users are advised to maintain sufficient balance and monitor their FASTag status to avoid disruptions under the new rules.
